I bought 6mm plate back in the E-cat days and looked at these plans but was buggered if I knew how to make it out of only one sheet

I ended up making a taller design out of two sheets with two internal separately lockable compartments - partly for pistols/ammo and partly to make a taller than average safe for really long guns

The door can be taken off when opened to lose a little weight when moving it - it's on farm gate pin hinges but has a full length retainer inside when closed

If I did it again I'd make it bigger (duh) and just the one internal compartment - ammo is now kept in a separate lockable area

Keep in mind that you will get to 250kg plus pretty quickly

Can recommend lining with felt or carpet and installing a goldenrod heater or oven light in a cage at the bottom to keep it warm and drive away condensation cos steel boxes sweat like a rapist
