Goog questions but my answers not so much. The issue that I had with answering is that I am very black or white when it comes to having confidence and I struggle to accept that there are degrees of confidence. I am either confident about something or not confident (one or the other) but can’t seem to find it in me to be partially confident.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

They tell me the older u get the more u can see the grey areas ...
It ain't working for me.
That is COLFO all over unfortunately. They work in degrees, concede points and Police walk all over them in the give an inch, take a mile scenario. COLFO will not draw a line in the sand and that is what puts so many Firearms Users off them.

Yup, those are simple "yes/no" questions. There is no space there for partially confident as you say. Having said that, my direct interactions with the administration types have all been great, but I have heard a lot of people having massive issues that just shouldn't have happened.
String of zeros from me.
Questions seemed very loaded though.
For instance, how else could I answer a question about whether police apply firearms law without bias. They’ve made the law abiding owners out to be questionable characters, while not clamping down on criminals with guns.
Only one honest answer I could give…
Interesting questions.
I have found front line police staff, sworn and unsworn, to be okay, approachable and polite.
Not always as knowledgeable as one might expect, but competent.
I renewed my firearms license in 2023 and found the process okay - not great but okay.
It could or should have been easier and faster.
The interviewer/vetter was okay, mainly questioned my mental health.
Did a poor job of safe inspection.
Seemed lacking in knowledge or awareness of the requirements around firearms registration.
I have no confidence in the upper levels of the police hierarchy.
They seem to draw conclusions and create policy without any significant evidential proof.
As as for Mr Cahill, I have no confidence and no trust in any thing he says or does.
If Colfo had drawn a line or grown a pair, what would you have had them do?
I ask this because in negotiations you derive power through having strong alternatives away from the table. For the last 9 years there haven't seemed to have been any for Colfo - sit at the table and talk for small gains - or walk away from the table to nothing.
Things might change now.
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

Coppers only apply the shig laws Madd by shitty politicians
If this is politically post , dis not mean it
I'm sorry admin, but it's the truth
Something else to consider, when the time comes regarding changes to the firearms act and COLFO ask for shooters to make submissions to police, no one bothers to do it. I think from memory the last time was a only few hundred out of 234K licenced firearms owners that made submissions, even after COLFO's lawyers had collected all the details together to make it simple for licenced firearms owners to submit. Its very difficult to "grow a pair" and stand up to police with the level of apathy and support displayed by shooters in NZ, but they keep on working for licenced firearms owners, because not to is defeat, and no one wants that do they.
