, why would anyone complain to the police? He was shooting safely (but foolishly) by the sounds of it. Even so, he should have known better. Now he does. Two dumb idiots don't make a right!

Not the brightest thing to do at a beach.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

And to think my old man used to sit on the beach at Lake Ferry with his Remington Targetmaster and shoot holes in the big black rubbish bag that had just taken his longline out on the breeze, it was the only way he could think of to lower it into the water. Fifty shots seemed to do it. Must be a lot of lead on that top coast of the South Island!thems was the good olde days, probably had a few beers beside him as well!

1 - Regional park so no shooting
2 - shooting towards a rock background so potential ricochets
3 - Given the location described he will have been close to the public carparking area at the north end of the beach. It is a popular beach this time of year.

Over the years I have spent a lot of time on that beach, and it is just a stupid place to be using anything, even a shangai.
On a sunny Saturday there will have been a lot of people here.

I got the picture - thanks. Well that makes him just that much more dumber! I hope he doesn't have a firearm licence - I wouldn't want to be out in the woods when he's out there.

Yes but you are right Pete. Pigeon pie is good. Of course you use the neighbours racers and not the native Kereru.

Today is very different from a decade or more ago , I use to shoot on the beach often , and other than checking to see If anyone already on the beach had a problem with that , and shooting in a safe direction , thats about IT , never thought twice about it .
As a race / nation we have become pathetic , compared to the good old days , people use to be responsible for their own actions , and we where not all dumbed down and treated as criminals .

    Later Chris
