In the 70’s during duck shooting season I used to leave my shotgun on top of the back of the seat in my old ute, couldn’t lock the ute but even sitting parked outside a pub the shotgun never got stolen.
The world has changed a lot since then and sadly not for the better in a lot of aspects.

For some reason I have never left a firearm in sight in a vehicle at any stage. My first vehicle was a Commer Cob (think Hillman Husky) and the back seats folded down leaving a nice cubby between the folded back and front seat to slide 2 rifles into. Otherwise they went in to the boot of later vehicles, mainly to keep them out of the direct sun.

Did however go to the pub on many occassions with mate in his series 1 with a box of geli in the back and the dets and pliers in the dash tray. Nothing was thought of it.
Micky Duck and outlander like this.
