Sounds like they're catching up on things but having a 5 year licence period for the newbies will put the pressure back on them in another 18 months from now.
you sure about choice of words there @planenutz?

-You are required to notify NZ Police of any changes of address....
-You should now put in place arrangements for the lawful disposal of your firearms in the event of your death....

In my case I had no prevision (at the time of the interview) for the legal disposal of my firearms in the event of my death, so just wondered if this is customized to the applicant.

I guess it doesn't really matter, as I'm going to do it anyway, just curious.

    Thanks
I think it's a standard letter. My licence came with the same thing about making arrangements incase of death or mental health issues.

Mid-May - Applied for FAL (easy form, no major issues, don't miss out parts)
Early June - Safety course (this can be a big hold up, especially of you're away from a big SI city)
Early August - Personal and partner interview (Get your safe in asap, be humble but show some knowledge)
Mid August - Reference interviewed (Choose a good quality mate on your form!)
21th August - Approved (Great end for a crap Monday...)
Now just waiting impatiently for the official card...
My time line was very similar to this and I'm in Gizi where stuff tends to take a bit longer generally.

Good point @Joe_90 - appreciate the opportunity to correct this for the sake of prosperity and a longer lifespan. It should of course read "Wife".

Quick question: Just received an email asking me to pick up my new license from the North shore Police station.....
Have they changed the system re posting your license out to you?
I note that from some of the answers in this thread, some of you received your license in the mail.

    Hi Mate,

Had my interview two weeks ago (my referee was interviewed the day after me) and I was told my the firearms Vetter that I should receive an email within two weeks regarding the licence confirmation and then the card two weeks following.

It has now been 2.5 weeks and haven't heard anything yet. Did you receive a confirmation email or just a email to pick up? Thanks a million.

Cheers buddy, il just keep playing the waiting game I guess, I got the impression it would have been quicker from the Vetter after they stated two week but that looks like wishful thinking. When you say you got confirmation from the vetter, was that after the interview. It seems to be quite inconsistent.
