I have to agree, I know of one H&f that refused to accept a gun from another H&F store, very short sighted in my opinion.

Just received an email from Fastways "Firearm Policy update'.

    Service update

26th July 2017: Firearms policy update

Some important information to know if you are sending a firearm:

•All Firearms must have known shipper documentation filled in. Form found here
•All firearms can only be delivered to a registered business.
•All packages will have signature required and firearm stickers applied to them.
•Any residential addresses will be sent C/- receiving depot and will need a phone number.
•It is vital all firearms are unloaded and no ammunition is ever transported with the firearm.
•Firearms should be transported in a non-transparent padded cover or hard case.
•It is illegal to carry a loaded firearm or airgun in a vehicle. All unloaded firearms should be disabled by locking or disabling using a secure locking device, removal of any bolts or bolt carriers from automatic weapons (if removable).

Please note: If a residential address is written on parcel, please put a cross through it and mark “Depot Only” on item.

If you would like us to hold the known shipper documentation on file for you please fill out and email back to us at:

All because a bunch of mung courier drivers can't follow basic instructions. They could of just said no more firearms though.

The nice chaps at DPT are sending my rifle back to me and Fastway will now only deliver to their depot or a gun shop. I have no issue with this at all. I'd rather that than the rifle goes walkabout.

EDIT: But I appreciate if you live a long way from the depot, it's a pain in the arse.

No, it's going to the depot, but thanks. Rod sorted, Jigstar finally came good, they sent it to my home address.

Just had my first dealing with Fastway and firearms.
I bought a .22 off another forum member and he was charged $65 to deliver it within the south island. I tracked it and found it was being held at the Nelson Fastway depot.
I am about an hours drive from there so wasn't happy to make a trip in to collect it.
So, basically, you pay a shit load more for a much lesser service if they know it is a firearm.
What is the point in declaring it as a firearm? This seems totally counter productive to me. It is doing nothing more than discouraging people from declaring it is a firearm and leaving it up to the individual courier driver to actually obtain a signature, and if they don't know it's a firearm they usually won't bother.
    Rant over.

Talked to a guy yesterday who bought a rifle from down south....had survived two world wars in excellent condition over 150years without damage and it arrived via fastways with a big chunk smashed out of the stock

    complained and got a "sorry"

To break a chunk of wood out of the stock it would basically have to be thrown at the ground or stabbed with a forklift fork.....regardless of packaging.
