Firearms Safety Authority experience this morning

Having received the reminder from NZDA about registration after the 24th, I perused the literature. Finally I phoned their 0800 number, listened to canned info for three ‘circuits’ and was cut off. Tried again later and asked:

    1) “Are you based in NZ?” as the voice was difficult to understand. She slowed her speech down.
    2) “Apart from online registration, what other methods are acceptable as outlined by the Commissioner of Police?” Her answer was
“You can phone the details through”.
    3) “Whose responsibility is it if details are incorrectly recorded?”
Answer: “Oh my goodness gracious me. I don’t know. Phone back after the 24th and ask someone else.”

Being a visual learner, I imagined a huge Swiss cheese!

If they can be bothered, by the time they get around to it will probably be back on the road.

I doubt the FSA will have any personnel on the ground to check security. I spoke with the local AO yesterday about a few things and also asked if any FSA tasks will fall in their lap. He said no probably not, and that AO’s won’t be rechecking security that they had already seen, unless it’s part of their routine checks of endorsement visits. Not his exact words but essentially what he said.
