Good to see some common sense!!

Taranaki kindergarten issues 'gun licences' | Stuff.co.nz

Kids being taught not to point guns at other people at this age has to be a good thing. The teacher deserves a medal for this

Definitely a good move, amazed the school lets them, all kids should be taught about firearms IMHO

Great idea, wish they taught that in kindergarten when I was there. Oh, ... hang on, I didn't go, ... think I must have failed the entrance exams.

At my boys preschool, they're not even allowed to pick up a "Stick" or "Point their Fingers" like a gun .... Is crazy in my opinion !!!

Now they just need to teach them to stay away from methamphetamine and other recreational drugs and the ongoing generations should improve.

My wife used to set up targets for them to "shoot" at and the kids all recited what they could point their guns at, "targets, rabbits, deer, pigs....." lol all sounded pretty cute listing the allowed species

Whats up guys u fullas love to jump on pc stuff. Its just kids playing. How do you play cops and robbers if you cant shoot the robber. my girls play duck commander one runs around saying quack quack and the other shoots her. Nothing wrong with shooting the bad guy we all done it. It would be different if they were playing hunting party or bush stalkers!

Cowboys and indians, cops and robbers and war were all a part of healthy child play in my youth so I see no reason why it should not still be so. Don't believe the psycho babble that it will cause kids to think that shooting people is OK and that it will turn them in to mass murderers. Hell if that were the case then my generation would all be running around shooting our best mates 20 times a day.

What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
