    Gun license stuff.

    Hi everyone~

I have decided to get a standard gun license.
I would like to check police vetting for my history before I pay the application fee.
Is there any police officer or anyone who knows police officers who can check my history please?

I want to know if my back ground is clear or not before I buy safe and pay the fee.

I had diversion for assault once and careless driving once.... but it was about 4 years ago. And ever since he diversion I have no other trouble

Any help or suggestion will be appreciated

    Thank you

I have diversion for the same reason. It is not a conviction.
I have 3 endorsements on my licence.
Won't be an issue if that's all you have.
Not sure about the careless driving tho.

Nobody is (hopefully) going to get a police mate to check your record cos that would be hightly illegal and inappropriate. The AO will look at the whole package when they asses your license, interviews, record etc so regardless of whats on your record it may or may not preclude you from getting a license. Go talk to the AO like stug suggests.

Talking the AO will be able to tell you whether or not you're wasting your time applying.

I have a record - no violence or drugs/booze but did result in jail time.
I have a FAL - I was upfront with the AO interviewing me and he was happy.
    So were my referees.

Shouldn't be a problem Gnar since you've kept out of trouble for the last four years. Be aware though that when do get your FAL any further offenses may jeopardise you keeping it.

Incidentally, firearms licence is spelt with two 'C's. Thought I'd tell you that just to cheer you up.

Best to be up front rather than them then tell you off the piece of paper that they will most likely have it all printed out on, he he!
You should be fine for an A cat, and although no two vetting officers are the same they will generally be trying to get a feel from interview.
    Pick good referees.

If any person wants to know what's showing on their personal file go and have a chat with the registrar at their local court house. You'll fill out a form then a print out will be sent to you about a week later. Note that it's only for yourself. You cannot request info on someone else!

Does anyone know how this works at international level?
IE; Can the NZ cops access an immigrants file back in one`s former country of residence?
I have nothing to hide as I have obviously already been vetted for immigration, but I had to supply the police record check for that, as (at the time) the UK police could not release info without my direct consent.
