That's the requirement on the license holder but it appears from their side they treat it like anyone at the address could potentially have access.

People don't end up in the big house for low end driving matters. It would have been serious and/or repeat. From the Police's point of view they will be looking at it and saying does someone at the address present a clear risk to themselves or others? If they are in deep over driving issues the answer is clear. Can't be trusted with a motor vehicle, sure can't be trusted with a firearm.

A big dose of erring on the side of caution is clearly the necessity of the times.
With the kid in the big house- It was definitely deserved. no argument from the father there......I think the mitigating factor was the father demonstrated that he would had enough 'backbone' in saying if he was going to lose his FAL if the kid stayed there then the kid wont stay there. That he demonstrated that he realised the importance of the conditions around his FAL and where his prioties lay....

if police carry on with this tactic seems theyre drawing a very long bow ,and sooner or later someone will launch a legal challenge ,which ,if successful could leave commisioner costers croisant and coffee circle with even more chooky bum bullets over their maxiofacial structures! as for time in the boob -hells bells if you look at court reports today some people even get declined when they request time inside whilst other on serious shit sometimes get lawyers whose storytelling rivals Dr Seuss and is often accepted!!!!!!!!!

My brother was doing some family support / counselling type work some years back. One of his clients had a some recently released from jail for driving convictions. Son was payroled to his fathers house because he had nowehere else suitable. Father was not particularly keen but it is family so you do what you can. Local AO rang and enquired about the situation then told the father he would not be able to retain his FAL while his son was payroled there. AO informed father that he would send an officer there shortly to collect. To which the father replied, "Sure, I will have him (son) packed and ready for you to pick up. If I have to choose between my license and the son, it is an easy choice as he had bailed his son out many times before."

AO suddenly did not want to come out and collect anything- Father kept his license.
I did almost the exact same thing...except told arms officer the lad was now his responsibility .....
