My reference to the "cunstabulory" is directed to the office, the leadership (that sets the standards) & union rep rather the cop on the beat.
I agree @phil H the average cop is doing his/her best often in very difficult and stressful situations.
However there have been too many serious failings by the police - just take a read of the other couple of threads on here at present.

The elected representative of NZPA lies continually.... always with an ulterior motive or agenda to feed.
The incident last week when a senior Auckland D decided the law did not apply to him and drove thru the Auckland L3 border with several others in his car.
And least we forget - the issue of a FAL to a terrorist.

Ignore this behaviour & the disregard/contempt for the rule of law? .... at our peril.

This story almost made me puke. These scum should have been jailed for many years. FFS, this is attempted murder of a family. These kids will be psychologically damaged for life and these pieces of snot get no more punishment than a hungry shoplifter. The judge should lose his job immediately as surely the justice system could have no confidence in his ability to uphold the law. Much sympathy to the family.

Up is down. Down is up.

Good is bad. Bad is good.

This is where we're at now.

Very true, its like anything and everyone, there are bad teachers, doctors, pick any profession or Government department. But getting back to the main point, the Judicial system in this country is a complete joke and a slap in the face for victims of crime.

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Gotta agree, I am surprised the driver of the family car didnt loose control and crash. We need some Singapore justice here, Home D plus 2 x 5 strokes of the lash a month apart.

Does anyone know if there exists a legal mechanism for the public to sue to remove unfit Judges?

Between this case and the one in Taranaki which was attempt murder at least (+ intent to injure and multiple assault charges on Police, including canines) some of the judiciary are patently unfit for the office.

Must be a way to cut some of the chaff surely?

A fair amount of public outrage expressed at this site.................. https://tinyurl.com/ydubqgzw

"Justice Ian GAULT has been a High Court Judge for less than three years. I only hope is that he will never attain four years in Office.

They still actively publish a decent number of press releases, unfortunately the media chooses to give them little to no coverage.

you can lodge a complaint however the appearance of an independent judicciary is far more important to the gubbermint than an unfit judge
