I wonder how they propose we should sell things?
It's almost like they want to go back to untraceable offline private sales

So they haven't learnt from canada
8000 are traded annually, @ 250000 licenced people in nz only buying 1 its about 3percent......
If tm have no way of verifying a number why have you folks been sent emails to the contrary?
I had previously entered my correct FAL number, so when I entered it differently, it raised a flag with the system. Not sure if or how they can detect it if you fake it right from the get-go. Perhaps there IS a flaw that needs sorting out. If a non-FAL person does that and wins an auction, they still need to show a FAL to the seller in person or jump through the police mail order hoop.
TradeMe use an algorithm for FAL numbers, it has parameters of what the numbers and letters should be and checks that it fits. It isn't THE Police database of numbers. Def not TM's fault if some shithead decides to sell a firearms without checking the buyer has a valid license.
Also TradeMe have an acknowledged problem that although no-one under 18 is allowed to use the site, but it's pretty much unenforceable if kids want to break those terms and conditions.
If I recall correctly, the police association mentions trade ne as an example, but in all wants all online sales banned.
How about they provide a logical, truthful and reasoned argument first?
Or just hit everything with the ban stick?
Are you listening mr oconnor?
