I saw a picture of a sawn off they took off some clown a few years back. It was a mess. I wouldn't want to fire it.
Some of the "grandad's old war trophies " would have been good though.

Police items I can remember buying; 6.5mm Jap Arisaka Carbine $40, M1 Garand $35, super tidy National Postal Meter M1 Carbine $50 (I got growled out by some old NZAAA member for pushing prices up on that one!), .30-06 M17 $40. These rifles were all in as issued condition. I wasn't interested in ordinary sporting rifles much so they mostly sold in the $20-30 range. Before I wax too lyrical about 'the good old days' I remember that I was only taking home about $55 per week in 1969/70 as senior firearms salesman for Tisdalls in Ch-Ch (not counting little perq jobs). I do remember that a jug of beer was less than 40 cents then though!

I'm stoked to here that. My $720 M 17 was worth 100 jugs in the 70's. Means I got an ok deal a couple of years ago

@gundocyes and you were a bloody decent gunsmith when i encountered you in the mid 80s. that was after i asked around and saw a job you did in building a kitset rifle for a mate of mine..the way you rectified my probs with my .303 and your taking the time to actually show me and explain what you were doing left me with a lasting impression of a true professional and bloody decent bloke!
I dont kiss arse=I tell it how i see it.good luck to you and your whanau.
