    Italians and Firearms

It seems in Italy they are having a bad spell of hunters being shot by other hunters. It also sounds from reports they are being shot for dumb shit reasons, sound and movement.
The numbers are staggering 217 killed and 900 injured in the last ten years.

They managed to kill 31 hunters last year. FML how do you combat that. Theres no excuse. Is it training? What type of process is there for licencing? A Weetbix box! And Cahil thinks we have issues.

    Enter the animal rights movement.
They are now lobbying their government to ban hunting in light of recent deaths.

You read the articles and make you mind up on the issue.

Hmm. The licensing here isn't that strict in my opinion and some of the hunting accidents are just as unbelievable.

There are 60 million people in Italy. If there population size was the same as NZ, that would be the equivalent of two deaths in that year. Is that comparable? Otherwise, not to stereotype/generalise, but I have been hunting with Italians (and Greeks), and they were bloody lunatics!

    I disagree,
It’s not purely a licensing issue, it is a hunting issue.
There are plenty of licenced shooters that don’t hunt.

I have a fundamental objection to you using the word "accident". They are not.

Agreed, but it doesn't change the fact that it's very easy to get a licence for a firearm.

It’s just a firearms licence, not rocket science.

Not necessarily no. If there are criminal convictions on your police record, it becomes difficult. Even if you are a decent person etc these days.

no matter what accidents will happen be it out shooting or on the rugby field. i got hit by a ricocheted 22 bullet years back and its hurts like hell. the guy that shot me was in front of me shooting forwards of us both. like i said accidents happen, the main thing is to keep risks at an absolute minimum

Only easy if you're deemed a fit and proper person.
If you're deemed a fit and proper person, why wouldn't it be easy?

Rocket science or solid fuel propulsion is not actually very complicated. I know that the term is used as a colloquially to mean complicated and difficult and I intend no offence to @Moutere by challenging it's use. The term is outdated.
I suggest that in its place on this Forum we instead use 'Woman Science'.

I'm with @Moutere on this one. So rocket science is straightforward??? I know you are tongue in cheek and making a joke. I have a couple slide rules and can do some basic functions on them - but I absolutely marvel at the rocket scientists behind the 1969 moon shot.

Understanding how rockets work is not 'Woman Science'. In fact simple fireworks are classed as rockets. Even the poor oppressed Palastinians make rudimentary rockets. I am surprised at your response @Cordite, considering you have a German missus
