    Kaimai shooters on target

This sign was originally put up after someone drove off the end of the track over a 80 metre bluff but now seems to be used by all and sundry as something to blow their frustrations off at after finding there are "no deer in the Kaimai's"...for those that worry about hunters 'image' this is a prime example of what is not needed...DoC would have been better off to have put up a bulls-eye target with safe backdrop, at least the general public would understand...in a perfect world all those bullet holes would have been made by owners of a FAL.

Game / surveillance cams. Sign shooting has been common for a century.

I was in the Kaimanawa's a couple of weeks ago and seen the dunny had a few holes in it from dickheads shooting it...one can but hope they head count their mates before opening fire...this was in a block where the operators check firearm licenses before flying in.

That sign is within view of anyone walking the North/South Kaimai track at the summit of Thompson's Track, it must send a shudder down the spine of the hundreds, if not thousands who walk the track...as well as the many off roaders who use it as a destination point, although most off roaders are a bit of a red-neck crew so probably wouldn't worry them too much.

Just nail up a finger sign next to it pointing west, with "To Ettamooga Pub" written on it.

I think the best joke I ever seen with that pub cartoon was the two Swedish back-packers wanting their photo taken outside of it and the Aussie in his black singlet holding and looking down at the camera and the caption was "Focus...yes yes...just as soon as you take the photo"

Imagine the 'thrill' of walking the North-South Track and someone up ahead is rattling off a thirty round mag around where you are about to step out of the bush.

Shit like this irritates me no end, it doesn't take much for doc to decide that FAL are not responsible enough to be trusted with a firearm in doc hunting areas and just close off hunting these areas due to negligence and endangering the public, then it's a loss for all. Some people must have a extremely small IQ.

I believe DoC are working on making the North-South Track into a Great Walks Track which will limit the distance from the track to hunt or discharge a firearm, my guess is that goes for bow hunters as well...of course this area will then have to be 1080'd to clear any animals from it...DoC will look at it from a public safety and their liability angle, one can thank the dickheads for this happening.

Staying at at hut midway down the kaimais and noticed the sign marking the nearest tracks and directions had 2 bullet holes in it. The kicker was the shooter was could've only done it from inside the hut

It's gone on for the 60 odd years I've frequented the bush, wouldn't have a clue if it's become more obvious or that social media has made the problem more aware. One thing that has become more obvious are empty RTD cans that liter our bush roads.

The scouts that used to camp at my place did a rubbish collection on Thompson's Track from the summit to the car park on Waikato side...the predominant rubbish was plastic water bottles followed by V drink cans and bottles.

Society hasn't just invented retards. They have been living among us since forever. Its only the recent advent of Social Media that has permitted the visual sharing of the retards' life. And got us talking about their actions. And the potential for bad press.

I've seen rifle fire damage to padlocks on NZFS food lockers in the type70 6 man huts back in the 1960's, permalat track markers shot full of holes in the 70's, 4WD tracks rutted so badly from 'hoons' in shorty Landies with 186's in them and sporting 825's, again in the 70's. Its all not new. Been here forever. Hell, I remember being made to pick up rubbish along the Desert road, for CB punishment back in the late 70's. Litterbugs, no respect for the environment. Lazy useless wastrels
