Key points for using the new online firearms system

Theres a couple of threads on different aspects of the system, I thought it would be good to keep a nice easy read through of things. I did my renewal online a couple of days ago, heres what I noted

I'll update this post with other points as people list them.
    • You'll need a recent proof of address, so download a bank statement or power bill before you start the process.
    • Get someone to take a nice clear passport style photo of you before you start the process.
    • Click on the Save button before you click the Next button, just in case.
    • If your firearms license number has capitals, use capitals. Enter it online exactly as it is written on your license.
    • Where it asks for your Doctors mobile number, ignore that and enter the landline number instead.

If I remember correctly there are two fields for your Doctor's phone number. One normal number and one mobile. Both are marked as required until you fill one of them in then the one you didn't enter anything into stops being required. It's set up to require at least one phone number but it can be either type.

Ok, maybe a case of enter the landline number only? Don't touch the mobile number part..

    Hmmmm.....Okay....
    Line 1 I didn't have to do
    Line 2 I didn't have to do
    Line 5 I didn't have to do
Am I missing something when I registered my firearms details online ?
I did log on through my "Real Me" account though.... Is that the difference ?
And I did get email Conformation that I had "Successfully submitted my form through MyFirearms" ???

The original poster is referring to making an online application for a renewal of licence. Most of these requirements don't apply for actually using the register for just registering arms items.

I believe although not certain on this you need a verified account to be able to edit your data after submission.

This involves printing off a form and taking it to a Police station to be signed off by them.
