COLFO issued a response as well, which pretty much covers off all the pertinent questions that need answers to. There will be a lot of eyes on this inquiry.
“Age is a very high price to pay for maturity”
Good to see, it will take a while but I am pleased that there is a good chance that the truth will out however late it may be
About time. If he had not been granted a licence, this trajedy would have been avoided. End if story.
Now matter the outcome you can't change the past. Wether any changes for the good result from it is anyone's guess
Interesting how they talk about loopholes.
What is more pertinent is his crap vetting along with why his terrorist proclivities were enough to be flagged by our security agencies bit didn't get passed onto the rozzers so he wasn't even elligible
If the “they” you refer to are the NZ Police and the “foul up” refers to having issued a firearms license without having determined that the referees should nominated by Tarrant should not have been accepted as referees then the NZ Police (Mike McIlraith) have/has already admitted and accepted that they got that wrong.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
Interesting that in several places the article states that “information from the RC inquiry was withheld from the public” ….really ??!! Not only were the terms stacked (to protect the narrative) but then “inconvenient truths” were covered up. WTF ?!
Michael McIlwaith just deflects, he knows full well who caused the problem. Watching him on TV I thought an apology would have helped.
Boom, cough,cough,cough
McIlwraith couldnt lie straight in bed at night.
He is the guy who destroyed the Mountain Safety Council Firearms Instructorate and lied all the while doing it.
Nothing would give me more pleasure than to see him fired but it will never happen.
Interesting the comment that someone made in the article that even if he hadn't been granted a license it might not have stopped him, just made it a bit more difficult to get the gear. Not sure I agree with that, bit hard to buy bulk ammo in NZ without a license for one!
FWIW He mentioned in his manifesto that he considered other methods of attack but chose firearms for maximum political impact.
Don't forget the Nice, France attack (to which his was a response) had over 200 victims and that was with a truck.
It has to be up there with 9/11 as one of the most successful terrorist attacks of all time. He achieved every one of his goals and more, plus inspired numerous copycat attacks.
Beat me to it. Means motive opportunity he had plenty of options if firearms weren't available to him. Mcgraiths comment that he could have still gotten them was an arse covering exercise designed to minimize the licensing failure.
