    At the recent Fishing,Hunting & 4x4 Expo in Rotorua I asked the FSA representative about renewing my firearms licence. He told me that as long as I submitted my completed application and paid the fee before my licence expired I would still be licenced until the new licence is issued.
    This is very much in line with what @Moutere has posted.
