Multi choice test when renewing license

When you are renewing your license, at your interview they say you have to do a multi choice test, - is this the same as the old 25 question multiple choice questionairre you used to have to do when applying for your license, or is this something more elaborate? Or a different thing in some way?

Do I have to memorize their seven rules of firearms safety word for word and half the arms code, or am I going to get by on obvious common sense?

I sort of missed this and my interview is coming up next week or so.

It's Common Sense but your answers may differ from theirs. I know for a fact that one of their questions your answer would be "Chambering" a round. Their answer is that is a "Loaded" Firearm. Remember the people who formulated the questions know nothing about Firearms.

Just make sure you're up with the play with any new rules, especially around the more recent "transporting of a firearm"
They really wanted to make sure I knew every detail around that.

I did this a couple of days ago. Once the vettor had sat down I realised I had not done any revision at all for the new rules, but it was all very instinctive for anyone familiar with basic firearm safety. The only bits that had changed since my previous vetting were relating to mental health issues and transporting firearms.

Yep, and only 10 questions asked.
My guy had a laminated sheet of the 10 questions. He handed it over and asked for my answer to each one.
Was multi choice (there were various answers provided and I had to choose the 'best' one)...I had read up on the new regs but was mainly common sense answers for each question.

Hmm will need to read up on them, especially transportation bit.
My renewal going alright had to send another couple of photos as the one Michelle took really made me look like a crim.

Just had a quick look at the Code and they say pointing in the air is a safe direction and later in it do not shoot at the skyline.
If I wrote an Operating Procedure for my work that had errors like this I would be crucified.

Attended one thing where the person doing the 'safety presentation' insisted that down was the safe direction. I asked him if that included standing on rock or concrete or worse, steel tread sections... Blank look and crickets.

Safe direction, is one of those things where the rules got a bit confused in my viewpoint - should only be chambered and locked in battery when "ready to fire" in which case your safe direction is towards the intended target. And then you are always assessing your backing area and the remaining cone of fire.

I was taught "a safe direction" depends on where you are. I said the same each time I've been asked.

Your rifle storage is part of the renewal process. Make sure your gun safe is secured in TWO directions. Fixing in one direction only does not comply.

That can be into the wall behind the safe and into the floor?

Yes, floor and wall are good. It is much harder to get leverage if the crooks try to take the whole safe so that's why they recommend mounting to 2 surfaces.
