I was ina small gun shop in Howick some 20 odd years ago. Just looking around. A dude somes in asking about a semi auto rifle like an AK or SKS ( they were not MSSA back them just A cat) Staff answered his questions and explained he needed a license to purchase and directed them to the nearest police station. The guy seemed offended as it was for his "boss" standing beside him (Think boss / manservant dynamic....) as he wanted to shoot a few ducks on the local golf course........Customer explained his boss was highly ranked military and knew what he as doing and did not need a license...Staff member referred him to the police .....How he did it with a straight face I will never know.....The conversation we had afterwards was a hoot, and I would so very much liked to have seen the police persons face when approached at the station.....Imagine trying to shoot ducks in december on golf course in Auckland with a 7.62x39....so many different kinds of wrong.....

I was in Fun City in Ch-Ch with my two kids a couple of years back when some germ had an accidental discharge in his ute outside in the car park. Didn't hear a thing but found someone counting holes in his car parked nearby a few minutes after the event. Some times the gods are watching , things could have turned out very differently.

The incident was discussed on here somewhere.

On here, in the papers all over....and somehow the media implied that it was GCs fault.......(clearly it was not)

Funny this subject was brought up.I met the above guy on a few jobs around chch.He was into hunting and so was I.We talked about doing a
few days up in the hills. So I went on a Friday afternoon up north Canterbury and he was to arrive on the Monday for a few days hunting with me.But he never turned up at all.No tex message or anything. So the following week I got a message from him that he couldn't make it.Had girl friend problems.Hm I thort that's ok I got a deer for my self any how.
Well a few months later I read in the court notices about gc car park shooter and his name popped up,the date of this incident was the same weekend that he was to go hunting with me.Well I be thort you stupid c,the bullet went thru the passage door and thru the next truck door just after the driver had took about 2 steps from shutting the door.Bullet ended up in the opposite door.He got off light and got to keep his gun licence. I rang him up and said what the f were you thinking.Oh I had my mind was on other things.I said yr gun should not have been fkn loaded in the 1st place.I thing its better if you hunt on yr own in the future and its safer for me.That was my last words to him.Grrrrr
