    Nope...........Constable Plod would still argue that "no firearm should be left unattended in a vehicle". His perception, and i agree is that the vehicle could be entered / broken into and the rifle could still be stolen.

    When transporting mine, (Ford Laser hatch back with fold down rear seats) in case i have to pop out for a pie or pee, I use the the stainless steel cable with lock but go a little bit further, (Not enough to satisfy Plod) by having the rifle covered in the boot and running the cable through one of the metal eye fittings which the fold down rear seats are attached to when in the upright position.

    The trick is to buy the officer a pie as well, as a thank you for keeping watch on your vehicle
