Half the blokes on this forum think it's acceptable that you might end up shooting someone in the Bush one day so no surprises there

Here Ryan, you are mischievously misinterpreting what people have said. We are not talking about the .270, but peoples lives. I very much doubt anyone thinks that "it is acceptable to shoot someone in the bush". It is acceptable though to have differing opinions on the reasons why this occurs and and what is going on for the individual when it does occur.
I dont see where anyone suggested what you're saying? Maybe I missed that bit. So which half do you belong too? (According to you)
Now I gotta ask myself whether someone who suggests that shooting someone in the bush is just a case of being a "mistake" is a fit and proper person.... hmmmmm

Forget about the bloody guns, get out of the bush and onto the road. Now, are you NEVER going to cause a motor vehicle accident??? I don't think any of us would be that confident. Although they deliver much lower impact energy, guns can be as lethal as cars.

turn your last 7 words around.....cars can be as lethal as guns and it makes more sense...... if you get behind the wheel pissed its a conscious decision......if you decide to speed its a conscious decision..... if you tail gate..if you use phone....overtaking on blind corner...
not the same...yes AND no
the above are using something in a way thats KNOWN to be dangerous and can kill,the last one is getting close as you doing something you think is right without proper vision to CONFIRM IT .
@Micky Duck
I said the last line very deliberately to make a point. Look road toll vs gun toll. The forces involved in a car crash far surpass the muzzle energy of anything any of us carries in the bush, even though guns are good at drilling nasty holes, but that's all they do. We are well taught to understand that a gun muzzle pointing within 30degrees of us is really bad... but at the same time, without blinking, we pass parallel at about 1-2 metres distance from an oncoming car at combined speeds often exceeding 200kph.
I agree that driving seems more complex, more factors involved than "just" identify-n-shoot. It seems helpful however to seek to understand why hunters screw up and looking at human factors at length during court proceedings is one way to do it.
