Outdated question on the Police firearms test

Just wanted to get a general feeling form you guys on this. I know it seems silly but i feel this form that we all fill out must be absolutely flawless and clear.

I'm specifically confused on the ambiguously worded question 8 of the firearms application test. It needs to be clarified as it does not seem to make grammatical / literal sense.

    8. Before a firearm is stored away, which of the following should be done?

A- check there are no rounds in the chamber and magazine.

B- remove bolt and magazine (where possible) and store these separately.

C- secure the firearms against children and theft.

    D- all of the above

Main question here. What is option C??? Is it duplicating answers A + B and then implying it is something different? If this is referring to the now redundant trigger locks? I suggest think they scratch D and just make C say "both of the above" as there is no such thing as specifically securing the firearm against 'children or theft' apart from options A and B.

Technically its saying lock the firearm in your safe before storing it....

    Thoughts?

Could of course change C to "Give the poor thing a decent clean so it doesn't become a rusty danger to you and everyone else"

It's a poorly worded, ambiguous question.

If you've stored your firearm away (presumably in a safe) and done A and B beforehand, to my mind, you've done C as well.

The question is poorly worded, not the answer choices.
The question would better read something like, "After use, which of the following should be done"

Option C is not duplicating A and B. B is only storing the bolt and magazine, not the rest of the firearm. A is only removing the ammunition. After doing A you could then leave the firearm on the table. C is getting you to put the firearm in a safe or similar.

No, I disagree, because the question is

    8. Before a firearm is stored away, which of the following should be done?

You cant put your firearm in the safe before you put it in your safe, it doesnt make sense.

My answer for this question would be B.

    Wrong.

Before the firearm is stored away, do A B and C.

Why C, imagine you are going to clean your firearm before you put it in the safe. You should ensure you do not leave it where it can be easily accessed by kids or thieves. Once you put it in the safe you don't need to worry about the kids and thieves.

I agree that D is the correct answer (or at least correct in the eyes of the tester...) but Mr Browning does raise a point where the question specifically states "Before a firearm is stored" and "C" is the action of storing the firearm...Perhaps there should be an extra option

    8. Before a firearm is stored away, which of the following should be done?

A- check there are no rounds in the chamber and magazine.

B- remove bolt and magazine (where possible) and store these separately.

C- secure the firearms against children and theft.

D- You should write a letter to the head of Police requesting that the person writing this should be taught proper English and a basic understanding of firearms...

    E- all of the above

In which case E would be the correct answer...........

No, read my reply. C is specifically not the action of storing the firearm.

It is: C- secure the firearms against children and theft. (no mention of storing it)

"Stored away" does not say it is in a safe.

Used to be an even worse one years ago.
I asked the Tok Arms Officer what is the answer for question 4?.
She gave it to me and commented it needed tidying up.
