and will they accept my serial numbers if they are the same as yours, seeing as we both live in Taranaki or is that too close? Think I'll patent FTP anyway...Finger The Pussy.

I can’t speak for everywhere but respectfully I know that many metro areas definitely don’t have any mental health professionals in their watch houses. If the cops there, with their exceedingly limited MH training, suspect that a mental health assessment is required then they contact the local TWO crisis team (who’re obvs already slammed with ED and community cases)
notice isaid major centres- the concept was trialled succesfully in christchurch and waitemata PHQ with intention of rolling it out countrywide .the chc team is composed of nurses of my experience who can fairly well handle anything.Im aware of crisis teams -did a bit myself in one of my coast stints one incident springs to mind of the arrival of two petrified cops till i gave em a brioef sitrep and from then on twas plain sailing.
will there be reinbursement for the defaceing and the devalueing there of???? TUI anyone???
a supplied serial number...now theres a recipe for a cockup if ever Ive heard one....we cant even get personalised plates on motor vechilles right, there are double ups in circulation.
Not correct.
The Arms Regulations says this:-
12 Identification numbers
(1) A person who imports into New Zealand a firearm, pistol, pistol carbine conversion kit, prohibited firearm, restricted airgun, blank-firing gun, restricted weapon, or major firearm part that does not bear an identification number must stamp or engrave, or cause to be stamped or engraved, in clear view on the frame or receiver, or upper and lower receiver, of that item, within 30 days after the day on which it is imported, a number by which that item may be identified.
Note that this section of the Regulations refers to 'importing into NZ' but there is nothing about those which are already here.
I have underlined and bold text the relevant words. By implication, the owner may choose to do it themselves (must stamp or engrave), or have somebody do it for them (cause to be stamped or engraved).
I haven't found anything, yet, that requires an identifying number to be "unique".
They don't care that it might deface and devalue your priceless article.
They've already shown that by "buying back" what had previously been lawfully owned property and in doing so devalued any/all value that there might have been between Police and the LAFO of our community, they don't give a shit about your feelings, either way!
However, there might be a small concession in Arms Regulations 12A(1), whereby it might be possible to apply the required number in a "non-visible area". Good luck with that.
Ah fair play, I wasn't aware of those two so my apologies. Definitely not all major centres through as I know thats not the case in Auck Cent, Counties, Hamilton, Welly or Dunedin. To be fair if its currently a trial in two stations then it would make sense for Carhill to make his comments about Police and MH, if only to put pressure on it (or another solution) to be adopted nationally. As an aside I know that for the last few years Welly have been trialling a MH co-response team which has a DAO, cop and ambo officer in one vehicle which has been seen as very positive by frontline staff across all agencies.
OP - sorry, not intending to derail the thread, just a very interesting topic and cool to get Kotukus views/insight
If it didnt progress any further then thats down to NZ police as IIRC its been over two decades since the trial commenced after a MOU(memorandum of understanding) was raised between Police and MOH in this regard..
Most regions also have interface with corrections via community forensic teams holding clinic in prisons, and court liason nurses stationed in all courthouses for judges counsel etc to consult if required.
Cahill is a specious creature politicus personified
BTW-if you have any queries etc re mental illness/syste
ms merely raise a threads -only too happy to help out.
I asked local FA officer for a printout of what they say I have on my C and B - no problem
Can you sign and date that please?
He looked like I had asked him to swallow my poo
They always had something wrong and expected me to be happy with their "oh, that's just our system, blah blah "
Not since the confiscation, sunshine
If there was something wrong on my end it would be up to me to do the explaining so if these spankcarrots want to charge market rates then I expect
a) some decent level of service
b) some pretense of accuracy
Any and all expectation from popo that I would do anything for them out of fairness got blown away in the dust years ago - I'd charge them for the shine off my shoe now
"Spankcarrots" :D:D:D
I learned a new word today
OK, here’s an update on the register
If an organisation, DOC, Akld Council, Mountain Safety, etc, own firearms, they can’t ( at present ) be registered to that organisation
They have to be registered to an individual, within that organisation
Now if the police audit that individual, and the firearms are stored somewhere else, on a Regional Park for example, no one knows the ramifications of that. Are they responsible if they’re stolen ?
Do they need to have firearms storage capable of holding those firearms, if needed ?
There’s a nationwide meeting, next week, to decide what to do.
The word clu$terfuck was used, and that was by an Arms Officer.
On a similar note, I learned recently that after June, qualifying shoots for pistol club members are now only considered if they are advised completions at your home club. So you will not be able to count a practice session at your club and you can’t count any attendance at another club or Regional/National competitions toward your twelve per year. Absurd much? Who makes this shit up?
The clubs then need to make it a round Robyn events practice season followed by contest. Same time as attendance.
There’s more than one way to skin the cat. For more serious contests come to the Saturday event.
Can’t see why this would not work. Also would certainly increase the club’s membership which is a good thing.
@Rushy
I don't think that is strictly correct. I've copied below an extract from Pistol NZ memo to clubs. "Scheduled shooting activities" count. It does seem odd that they don't count away competitions. Your secretary/club will have to submit a calendar for the coming year make sure it is as full as possible.
1. Member activities – from 01 July 2023
Please note that activities require that a person ‘participates in scheduled shooting activities organised by the pistol
shooting club of which the person is a member’. Actively participating in a club day or a new members training session
and the act of ROing these (referred to within the regulations as the ‘duty officer’) for a match count. ROing counts as
it is a health and safety matter that there must be an RO (Duty Officer) when any shooting takes place. However
working bees, committee meetings and general maintenance do not count towards an attendance.
The club activities that count for the attendance requirement are ones which have been notified to Te Tari Pūreke
Clubs and ranges (TTP CR) within the clubs annual report – either in the year previous or the year coming. A club is able
to add further club activities’ to the club calendar within the year, however these must be included in the next annual
report for the ‘previous year’ section.
A club activity now requires that you send lead down the range.
A working bee or committee meeting no longer counts.
it counts IF you send lead down range though...... not hard to organise that.
Re pistol shooting club attendance. I dont think that the away shoots ever counted toward the minimum 12 attendances, so thats not something new.
I don't shoot pistols. But geez, that's just bollocks.
A shoot is a shoot. What numpty came up with that?
Just got an email from the new eedjits in charge of licensing saying that we have noticed that you haven't been shooting your 12
I will enjoy replying to them shortly that the reason for this is the police incompetence and failure to renew my license in a timely manner meaning that I had no license
Not only do they not have a clue, they don't know what a clue looks like
Please get a RO to escort / accompany you to the range , and see that you get your 12 sorted …simply because I can see some nasty little shithead will point out that you haven’t got your twelve , weather it’s your fault or theirs …then they will scream rules are regulations etc ..do not give these fuckwits any wiggle room!
I’ve seen stupidity and believe me it’s more common than commonsense in NZ !
The clowns are running the circus!
You are not the only one getting such an email as my daughter rang me to tell me she had received one last night. In her instance it is not license renewal that has gotten in the way but her service and training in the Army. Suffice it to say that dad has given her some coaching on how to reply but there were a couple of questions I couldn’t answer for her. The first was “what the fuck is Te Tari Pureke?” And the second “ why didn’t the cunt just pick up the phone, we could have sorted it in a couple of minutes?” She has turned into a bit of a potty mouth in the Army. Ha ha ha ha ….. she would have never heard that sort of language at home.
Swearing?
In the Army?

Keep it civil guys, it would be a shame to give people a couple of week break because of name calling.
Time to move on to another discussion guys.
