    police change if address

    A question.

If I have two addresses that I live at, do I have to tell the police and have a lockable cupboard at both? Despite never having my guns at one of them?

Was told by one AO I only need a safe if I have my guns there, but from some Arms lady said I need a safe at both regardless.

same old "interpretation" of the arms code ... I got seriously pissed off with the civvie AO that inspected my new digs when she told me that bolts rifles and ammunition must all be stored in their own, seperate, lockable safes.

Do what I did, and send an email requesting clarification to your local AO. That sorted it out nicely.

I can get you the email address of the National Arms office if you like...

    regards

    Tim

At the risk of sounding like an echo of Wirehunt. No.

What if you have a pyjama party at a friends place? Do you have to tell the cops then?

    Hahaha. Very sharp BRADS
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Exactly what I thought. Lady said if I'm accidentally stuck at my other address and need to keep them there. Well my car could accidentally breakdown on the way to a hunting trip, and need to stay at a friends place. Do i have to have a safe at every persons place I know?
Especially considering my main address is in the Waikato where I do all my shooting, amd the other address is in Auckland where I do zero shooting

Perhaps, just maybe, put yourself in someone else's shoes.

Have FAL. Can't verify secure lockup - because, hey, everyone who has a FAL doesn't personally own firearms. Now we know the FAL gives you the right and opportunity to own firearms now and in the future, right ? Yet somehow everyone who has an FAL tells the truth 100%.

    Just sayin'.

Sometimes perspectives works quite a distance.

As they say - WHAT WOULD YOU DO ?

I can see why you need somewhere to get you FAL, but if they are in a safe at an address I have lived at ever since I got my FAL, now I have a secondary address in the Auckland where the hunting/shooting opportunities are zero, seems a bit silly. I usually put my Waikato address for everything but I thought she was ringing up about me being a referee for someone so I added I have two addresses.

Another point of view, a friend of mine does all his shooting in the Waikato too, he has an E cat AR which stays at his parent's place in his E cat safe.
Does he need to have another E cat safe in his flat in Auckland in case he randomly ends up with his AR up here?

If KScott was right I would need about twenty gun safes spread across the south. Maybe even the odd one in the pig island.

Maybe it is to early in the morning but I have just read your post twice and have no idea what your point is.
