    Positive firearms use on TV

I don't watch them much if at all but did catch a very positive segment on thr show just after the channel one news.
The reporter was at a cowboy/western shooting club out of Rotorua I think.
Showed them all having a good safe time.
One guy with his daughter and a good mention about safe responsible use of firearms and discipline.
The reporter looked like he had a couple of shots and quite liked it

Good to see some positive reporting on mainstream TV, & a decent length too. The reporter couldn’t wipe the smile off his face, clearly having a ball

Yes, an excellent item - TV1 'Seven Sharp" which showed CAS in a very positive light. Many minutes, rather than the usual 20 second "sound-bight". TV1 is to be applauded for their effort.

It would have to be said that if a lot of people who had never shot anything before tried some of the shooting sports they would probably like them.
Especially once they realize how much practice and skill is involved to be really good at them.
I have had a couple of conversations over the years where their opinion was if you were using a shotgun you were guaranteed to hit whatever you were shooting at.

Yep, no negativity or focusing on how ‘dangerous’ it could be etc

Yeh it was good to see. CAS is a whole bunch of fun.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
