Ohh, I remember. Rural NZ in the 60's and 70's. Ask for gelignite at your local Dalgety's stock and station agent and the salesman would reach under the counter and bring out the box asking "how many sticks do you need?"
Canada it's on the shelf too.
In the early nineties I would send my wife in to Wrighties in Hamilton to buy "jelly" for me. Funny part was she was working in the office at a local "facility" which is now called Corrections.
