Thanks; he was a good dude. There is an entire page to list your firearms, serial numbers and they are meant to ask. He said "It isn't law" and put a big cross across the page ha ha

So they really do ask that question about the keys, I would just make sure they were in my pocket...I wouldn't tell any cnt where I keep them, even the wife doesn't know...(helps keep me alive)

Out of interest.... And because I'm bloody impatient! How long is it taking to get your renewed licences?

After all the interviews and such it took around 4 weeks before it showed up in the post. That was in Nov last year for me.

Cool. My interview was on Jan 23rd and the last referee interview about 10-days later. So hopefully it can't be far away.... I've got a rifle I bought sitting in the shop's gun safe pining to come home with me..... Hence the impatience!

FAL expires september but I have already renewed mine hopefully. interview last week checked safe tired to wiggle it asked about ammo and bolts looked where they were stored. another room in a new safe (bunnings $50 on special). Asked why I needed a licence (sons firearms stored here while he is on his OE pest control and the odd hunt) No questions on safety only what will happen if I drop dead (son has licence he will deal with them) I told him I was renewing early as when the new laws come in I belive it will be too expensive for joe average to afford. He said we dont know what will happen. He asked about my referee and I said its difficult as I dont broadcast I own guns and am a loner that is happy in my own company. She was interviewed next day (non FAL holder) and they talked about me useing a chainsaw in a very safe manner. Nice guy no dramas just the same as last time. I did remove a rifle out of the safe so he could see the fixings and I made sure I did so in a very safe manner, pointing towards the floor ect.

Mine was a good dude too. Spent most of the time (2-hours!) talking about hunting and my chooks!

Phone your local Arms Officer and politely ask if they can give you an ETA because the roar is fast approaching.

Does a gun safe with separate compartment still qualify for storage of both rifles, bolts and ammo on an A cat, was asked by someone yesterday and don't actually know the answer as mine are stored separately

It is after all a separate lock-up in the gun cabinet but I've heard that some AO's don't agree with that. Best to check for your area.

bloody intersting, i wonder what would happen if your b-cat safe was bolted down inside your a-cat safe. 2nd level of security or not allowed ?

At my renewal the vettor was not keen on bolts etc in separate internal compartment, he said if they take the whole safe they have all the parts.
