    REnewinmg License.

I am in the middle of renewing my license. I had my home interview with the wife and had my security checked two weeks ago.

I have now just been asked to supply an additional new unrelated referee. The email says I have seven days to come up with another one. (and words to the affect of they wont be following up on it if I dont.) Why would that be? The guy I used for my first unrelated one I have used ten years ago with no problem and is a proper upstanding citizen. He was interviewed by phone in mid-May.

Why would they be asking for another one?

I think you need to ask "them' that question.
You'll get 27 different opinions and still not know why.

Well, I didnt dare ask; being a pillar of the community I should be able to come up with as many as they ask for....I dont want them to know I only know two people in the world.

I just thought someone might have had this happen before.

Sometimes people lie because they think/know the truth sounds like a lie, maybe your referees spoke so highly of you, the vetters suspected they were coached?

Maybe your referee just didn’t have an answer to a couple of the questions and was honest enough to say so.

It’s easy to be a pillar of a small community.

Remember the rule of 3 when dealing with Govt Departments

Complain and escalate 3 times and they usually chuck it in their "too hard" basket and let you go

Personally I would write them a letter offering to save them money by pointing out where they have incompetent staff on their payroll that they could easily let go, specifically the ones asking you stupid fucking questions

YMMV but I have had considerable success dealing with these clipboard cardigans by fronting them and asking them by what basis they can justify their bullshit

Respond and get an acknowledgement from them. Something tangible that is proof. Trust them not, we are dealing with Bureaucrats now justifying their jobs. Query it officially.

My nephew was asked for a third ref as they decided I was related to him, yet we are only related through our wives who are Aunt and Niece. Maybe the fact we share a birthday made us too close.

Possible conflict of interest. Related to you. Works for you. Has financial connections with you. Hasn`t seen you for ages. Dates your daughter. He`s the only guy who hunts your place. Has something in background that you don`t know about. Could be a whole range of things that may influence his answers to questions. I would like to think things are more through than when Tarrent got his license.
