I just had to buy a new one, my plywood one didn't cut the mustard anymore. Called into Hamill's rotorua, grabbed a 10 gun safe for $600

The first document, which you should download and keep a copy of is - Secure Storage Guidance for Firearms and Ammunition - a publication that tells you all of the requirements for whatever type/category of firearm you keep.
Unless it's a different category, there are circumstances which do allow wooden enclosures.

This is what I ended up getting. 7 gun safe but I'm sure I can squeeze in a couple more. Finally got it secured today.
