Does that mean that we can do something sensible like classing all Ar15s as A-cats and reserve the E-cat classification for people who use only large capacity mags of 60 rounds or more?

It pains me to say this.

We are not going to win ANY lifting of magazine capacity restrictions as regards A/E cat categorisation. You can currently rapid fire 8 rounds in a semi auto rifle, quite fast fire 11 rounds in a Lee or a .22 semi-auto. That's the ceiling and whether we admit it or not there's a rationale behind that particular restriction. Arguing otherwise just causes loss of credibility.

The passive-aggressive frankly stupid type of legislation such as that free-standing grips, "flash hiders" and bayonet lugs is an easier target as they arguably have nothing to do with public safety, everything to do with gun hate... on a par with, say, a suggestion that all sporting guns must be PINK!
