Greater or lesser degree, Depending on who you elect. Context depends on how you read a situation ie will more rules fix the problem? But anyway you said you couldn't do anything and I have suggested something you can do.

I dont like the sound of that, its almost as though the Police can't solve problems that hard.

"Firearm registration and all Police to be armed" sounds much more like they have control.

John Adams had a handle on it.

"To do good, and be good, is all we need to do".

At it's heart, that is the only way societies can successfully function. More rules inevitably leads first to tyranny, then chaos as the population rebels, then bad times. Reading through history shows that our situation is not unique, and despite an increase in available knowledge (or maybe simply information?), there hasn't been a corresponding increase in understanding.
