To become a nominee or receive a Darwin Award the recipient has to remove themselves from the gene pool (Hence improving the gene pool hence the Darwin reference)
However if removal from the gene pool is not successful despite the efforts they can receive an "Honourable Mention" which I believe this guy would deserve. If he does not learn from this effort then there is nothing to say he cannot earn an award for his next effort and we all wish him luck at his endeavours......
Now if he had shot himself in the Nuts would he get a nomination? I mean he is removing the breeding part from the gene pool
