Damn that makes me feel cheated reading that.
All that talk of coming down hard on those in possession of semis or parts prior to the confiscation and law change.
What a joke, can't say it wasn't expect though.
Good to see the system in action, what a joke.

Well, they wouldn't have paid him for them at the confiscation... and we told them this would happen.
No firearms licence for FOURTEEN YEARS prior to his arrest 2020 with those firearms and more parts to build more. The judiciary and crown must be nuts to allow and then support the paultry sentence. The offender had those mssas for no good reason and through the amnestys.
Who'se arses has he licked?
yep, and the admission that he was "storing firearms for others" also beggars belief. He clearly has prior form and "associates" ?!
wow knew that guy
that AR180 looks nice. not surprised by the "Sentence" either.
Even the judge thinks it stinks!! Q: Then why not give him a harder sentance?
"A nine-month home detention sentence imposed on a man who had 19 banned military-style semi-automatics and other firearms hidden around his house was "manifestly inadequate", a High Court judge has ruled.
However, Justice Sally Fitzgerald will not send Andrew James Cranch, of Auckland, to jail, saying he is within a month of finishing his home detention without any breaches."
Outstanding work by the crown prosecutor and original sentencing judge.
Offender would be laughing and partying through his 9 month home detention.
I am wondering what police records show of each of those illegal firearms; where did they come from and what others were traded over 14 years; and a bunch of related questions? How many Tarrant types had access? Something being hidden here methinks.
9 months of sky, netflix, playstation etc!
my heart bleeds for him!
i say let him have 24 hour a day 7 day a week repeats of jacindas "podium of truth" at full volume for 9 months, if that dont scare the shit out of him nothing will
all a cats no dought with upgrades fitted illegally no dought
All you can do is shake your head and think WTF is going on with sentencing these days
Looked like some AK's there. Something stinks.
Still would or should have been registered and traceable; if the cops have not mislaid the records---???
Now That could be embarrassing eh wot!
he use to sell heaps of shitty gun accessories on trademe and was the cousin of a dealer at a gun shop, has heaps of shitty sks, chinco 56's, cheap ar's when i had dealings with him 17, 18 years ago
Ffs this weak sentence bs makes me piss blood. These powers to be don't seem to work out that the sentences they are giving for these related crimes are not any deterrent what so ever. We were all warned we would be raked over the coals even as a FAL if we had even any part related to a mssa. This turkey has 19 in his possession and yet another wet bus ticket handed out. I don't know how justice Sally Fitzgerald sleeps at night. Smh.
A d meanwhile they're trying to stuff all the hunting and sporting shooters ranges. This whole scenario is unfair and unjust.
Gee wiz, if that's the punishment, I would of kept all my AR's. <<< **SARCASM, for all the woke-sters & spooks**
David Tipple in his Select committee presentation told the committee members that in the last 20 years he would have imported several hundred thousand of them. He presented that information in an attempt to show Govt just how much the confiscation was going to cost them.
The Police 'SHOULD' know that is correct. After all they are the ones that isssue all 'Permits to procure'for all firearms legally imported to NZ. And have done so since the early 1930's.
So the Police could have publically stated just how many Permits to procure they had issued for MSSA's since...whenever. But they didn't 'cause they knew that if only a fraction of MSSA's were handed in it would highlight just what a failure the whole fiasco had become.
And the confiscation netted what?, 57 thousand of all types of firearms. An awful lot of them 22's and old shotties/303's and worn out bolt actions.
There must be an awful lot of of New Zealanders that do not trust the Government (any flavor of Govt) and the Police one iota.
.....Just like the gangs:D:D:D
Wow the gun buyback from honest licensed firearms owners to make New Zealand 'feel safer' worked so well!
Don't worry. The government will be sure to revoke his license so he can't legally own firearms again.
Oh hang on, he didn't own those firearms legally. :wtfsmilie:
It seems a lot are beginning to contract that pox.
Could we be witnessing the beginnings of a purge?
The fingernails are starting to pick at the scab
