Thread: Useing the firearms register

And that in a nutshell is the main issue with the registration thing. Man in the above situation buys a firearm from overseas, but it has to go under the person who has it 'in possession's' licence details for the principle of registration. Said owner (read: lawful owner but not registered possessor) can buy and sell as many firearms as he likes provided the 'possessor' plays nicely and is happy to transfer in and out while all this buying and selling by the lawful owner is going on. Now where this gets stuffed up is if something happens to the registered possessor while the lawful owner is out of the loop - the firearms basically go into limbo and what happens to them then - if the lawful owner (but not possessor) doesn't want them sold who takes possession in the interim? It's bloody murky. Similarly, what happens if you go overseas for a short trip that for whatever reason gets extended outside 30 days and you haven't transferred them out of your ownership? Or for that matter a stint working out of your home region? I've asked the question but no answer - this was a while back though. For it to be strictly correct do you have to have someone come in and uplift for you?
