Good thing is I sure don't look like him.

Although his Missus or Daughter could park her slippers under my bed anytime.

They would be too high in maintenance to keep

A bit neutral on this one however given his training it is pretty piss poor. Not a sack-able offense. 20 push ups and get on with it

One of our club members left a soft case with a pistol in at the range a couple of years ago. The last guy shooting saw the case at the back of one of the ranges as he was leaving. Took a couple of hours to find out who it belonged to.

We gave him shit over it, but nobody wanted to crucify him.

A range is typically a closed or at least excluded area.

Parliament is a public area. DPS are meant to be highly trained members of the NZP. They carry firearms, weapon retention is one of the fundamental principles of anyone who carries one.

Given that NZP are continually trying to preach to LFAO on how / what to do, it is fitting that one of their own should be held accountable to the same standard at minimum.

A similar thing happened at our range too, a member left his Winchester lever action and SMLE rifle in the rack.

He also got a bit of gentle ribbing for awhile too.

But as pointed out clubbies are not highly trained DPS members and a range is not usually a public space and let's not forget the fire arm involved was locked and loaded.

I'd have thought dropping for 20 would have just been the starting point.

A month or so on kitchen duty migh be more apprppriate

    Cheers

No one mentioned that he apparently sent a mate in to retrieve the offending object, thus tying to cover his sorry arse

Could of been worse. He could of faced a situation that day where he needed it. Wouldn't that be a sinking feeling.

Yeah maybe sorta... He could get a fellow DPS member to secure it that was closer, yeah that makes sense, wouldn't you? I know I would.

See it like this: Nearly at airport, realise your glock isn't jabbing you in the ribs. Take a second to think. It's in the bogs isn't it?! Sent Bob to go back and get it.. Ring Joe at parliament, get him to go chase it down in the meantime. Joe isn't there, ring Tim, ring Andrew, ring Scott, holy fuck we have a problem.. Got it. Public knows, the news knows, oh dear.

    Shit day for that guy

Are you suggesting he should have just done nothing to retrieve it?

I found a sst rossi 44 mag 2 years ago left on a big log by a coded forestry gate , presumed the dude had the code ,those gates can be a bitch to line up correctly figured that's why he forgot the gun probably had a wet arse from sitting on the ground decoding the thing ! dropped it at the local copshop they said if it wasn't claimed within in 3 months its yours & said chances are he probably wont as hed loose his arms licence over it , 2 months latter I was in there getting my licence renewed the cop told me hed made a mistake & seemly guns get treated like cell phones & get destroyed !! what a waste .
