    antique

okay antique does not need to be registered - I have a side by side 16 gauge hammer gun in 16 gauge no makers name ( possibly a trade gun) cannot be opened ( blame older brother ) so cant get at serial numbers - age likely around 1890 - now is that an antique

If you look through the arms act it will give you an age to be classified as an antique. The video above also gives you that age (sorry I have forgotten)

Ironically If its a centrefire shotgun it is still defined as a modern gun no matter how old!

From memory Antique= Flintlock / cap and ball / pinfire. If it is a firing replica such as a Pedersoli or it takes a cartridge as inEnfield Snider it is not an Antique by definition. So if you had a Enfield Muskertoon .577 Muzzleloader it would not need to be registered. But if the same Muskertoon had been modified to a Snider then it needs registration.
