Thread: Best place to buy Falcon Ultrasteel in Waikato

Hi all,
Checking the cupboard it looks like we could do with a few more boxes of 12ga prior to opening morning. Looking for our usual Falcon Ultrasteel 2-3/4" #3, but now that Farmlands is out of the ammo business does anyone have suggestions for who stocks this at a decent price? Hamilton, Te Awamutu, Otorohanga etc. would be most convenient.

I see GC has it listed for $219/slab 'on request', but thought it'd be worth checking here before I ring them up.

Have you thought of ringing Falcon, they should be able to put you onto your local dealers who can supply. Was told by a large Auckland retailer that what was on their shelves in steel would be it for opening, don't know if this included Falcon. Am looking for 20g in non-toxic but GC seems to be the only option.

I got told the same thing last year, was at serious shooters, they did me a good deal on it, it was Falcon.
Never had any issues with falcon ammo, lead or steel.
Just very surprised not to see it more readily available.

I see Falcon has a limited list of distributors on their website - doesn't look complete though. Probably going to just grab a slab from Hamill's Te Awamutu for convenience this time around, though at $229 there's a decent markup getting put on with Outdoor Supplies advertising the same for $170!

Fired an email though to Falcon anyway. I'll report back if I find out anything interesting.

Thanks, I appreciate the heads up. I actually just got a really good email response from Target Products (at 8:24pm in the evening no less!). Among other things, they mentioned that Waikato stockists included Hamills Waikato, West Trading Te Kauwhata, Fish City Hamilton and that some of the PGG Wrightson stores are doing ammo again as well. Apparently there's a shipment on the way to PGG Cambridge at the moment.

I might make a couple of calls tomorrow and check out the comparative pricing from Fish City and PGG Wrightson.

try and find some Mary Arms ammo, Target products are the importer. 20ga load is 4&5's mixed. I tried a box on clays thru 1/4 choke and it smashed them real good.

FYI, Fish City is out of stock for the Ultrasteel. PGG Wrightson Hamilton, Te Awamutu and Otorohanga don't deal in ammunition but Te Kuiti and Cambridge branches do. Currently waiting on a price from PGG Cambridge.

Good to know re Te Kuiti since Farmlands stopped.

Try Matamata Sports World, but it my have been 3" that I saw....

@MSL and @tetawa - thank you both for the generous offer. I probably won't need to take you up on it but I'll keep it in mind. First step is to ring Te Kuiti and see what they actually have in stock. It's the only one of the branches I didn't ring.

So I rang Te Kuiti PGG - they don't have Ultrasteel in #3 shot but they do in #4 and #5. Priced at $22.99/box regardless of quantity (no slab discount). Guess they're not filling the low-cost gap left by the departure of Farmlands...

Found some up here thanks to you and Target Products, they seem to be very obliging, looked thru their sales records for closest to me. Stated what's in the retailers in Mary Arms is it.
