    Did anybody use ‘waxed’ loads?

Hint: mark them so you know not to use them on ducks/small game!

My grandfather used to make them on the kitchen table, pry open a case drip wax from a candle onto the shot till it was full. Poor man's solids.

    I
The tip I heard was to tip the shot onto a saucer and heat it in the oven then pour the shot back into the shell and pour the molten wax into the shell, the heated shot allows the wax to flow down the shot column.

NB Total disclaimer regarding safety of this being suitable for all or any shotguns!

    MD, eat your hat.

I can inform you, Taofledermaus had impressive results from cut shells out to some 1000 to 1200 cm.
