    Copper cover lead shot

Can anyone explain the rationale behind the copper covered lead shot manufactured by Elley.

I went in looking for some non toxic shot for an older shotgun and was pushed towards this.

When I asked if it was legal over water, I got the nudge nudge, wink wink and was told that it's up for the courts to decide.

Does the copper coating provide any benefits, or is it just a lazy attempt to circumvent the lead restrictions

Laws aside, if all lead shot was epoxy or powder coated, would there be any poisoning issue from fowl or cattle accidentally ingesting some?

I doubt the integrity of the coating would remain 100% intact upon firing let alone cope with being chewed on or being ground-up in a birds gizzard.

One of the worse problems with the Rena sinking is the copper and the salt water

My take on it was lazy salesmanship.

you could be right as far as private water goes as if its outside duck season
but it would take some explaining if it was duck season and you said you were just shooting geese.
