    Crimping ACTIV 20 Gauge Hulls

Has anybody had any experience crimping new ACTIV (the all-plastic type) shotgun hulls?

Purchased a 20 gauge trap gun for a teenager, and it came with all the reloading gear, including a new model MEC Sizemaster press and 500 new ACTIV hulls. The hulls are brand new, and when I crimp them, they don't appear to hold too well. I've tried both 6 and 8 star crimps, to see if that makes a difference, but still not a very flash crimp finish. The press is adjusted perfectly, and some of the used ACTIV hulls that came with the reloading gear crimp great.

I have many years ago reloaded 12 gauge ACTIV hulls, but these were all used hulls, and always gained a perfect crimp finish.

I'm thinking it may just be the new hulls having no memory formed in the plastic.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Possibly trying to crimp them to short. And creating to much internal pressure.
Try adjusting the crimping station out a bit. Or find some shorter wads.
Some pictures of the problem would help.

    Too hard.
    Give up.

Oh, by the way.... how much for the reloading gear?
    Use enough gun
