Duck shooters eye opener - Rotorua, Sunday 27th April

I haven't picked up my 12ga in nearly two years. Even then i only shot about 3 rounds of skeet with it. Time before that was a field course up in the Mamakus i shot with some mates about 2 years before that.

Looks like Dad and I are going along to the Rotorua Gun Club duck shooters eye opener this weekend though with some mates. Going to be a lot of fun blowing some dust out of my browning 2 shot. Hopefully i haven't forgotten how to change the adjustable choke on it and i don't loose my thumb in the action while loading it. My shooting is going to be embaressing enough without a medical!

Might take the new camera along as well. See if i can get some photos!

Anyone else going along to this shoot?

F*#Kin AWESOME!!! Shit, how could i have forgotten how much fun breaking a few clays with some mates is! Picked up my browning 2 shot semi and it fits like a glove. Great shoot, great mix of targets. Took my camera along to try it out on some action. Here are some of the better shots:

Wildman, Dundee, Munsey and 4 others like this.

Cheers Jasen, new camera is a good step up from the old one.
I dropped a few targets, Malcolm dropped a few more... Think i ended up on 80 from 100 for the day. 160 shooters there, no idea where i ended up overall.

Yep, camera will be coming with me. Don't know how much use it will get with me stuck in the hay barn with the start / finish. We shall see.

That shot was a hit as well. Next photo in the sequence was the clay all broken up.

In the last photo you can see the wad and shot heading towards the clay. Malcolm hit that clay as well.

Nah, if i can get out of work i'll be out for a fallow this weekend.
Duckshooting is fun but i enjoy shooting a bit more than half a dozen times in a morning. Clay targets suits my limited attention span much better

Thanks Guys, camera is a canon 70D with a Canon 24-105mm L lens. Basically just set the shutter speed to 1/1000 seconds, set the camera to "burst" mode, set the focus, point it in the right direction, hold the shutter down and hope you come out of it with a good shot.

Shutter speed could have been a little faster for sharper results.
