There is no rear sight on this, are rear sights common on shotguns? My SxS only has a bead at the front.
I hear a bit from some who say to shoot with both eyes open with a shotgun, ive tried doing that and it looks cross-eyed to me
The stocks are not adjustable on these, but you can probably get aftermarket adjustable stocks.
I did add a limbsaver recoil pad to it which has extended the stock by 20mm.
Not sure if that would affect anything .
Nope. Nearly all normal non tacti-cool shorties have a rear sight.
Maybe a a second bead halfway down the barrel but that's it.
Yes both eyes open but you may be like me.
Right handed but dominant left eye.

I probably need more target practice as really only have had experience with rifles, but a while ago when I first had a go at clay targets with a friend, I was hitting them second nature and wasnt even trying.

Got to figure out how to remove this broken sight out of the rail in the meantime and look for a replacement sight.
Not a rear sight at all...I'm suggesting just "something" a blob of chewing gum will do to start with to raise your eye and tip shotgun slightly upwards,lifting pattern. You've added limbsaver is good, but making longer CAN cause you to shoot low until you learn basics. Seriously once you know what's supposed to happen it's easy with plurry near any set up. At present...and this isn't your first lot of shotgun questions...your doing something along the lines of mismatched scop based n rings and scope is ducktaped in place while trying to shoot at mice at 200 yards using ammunition your grandpa condemned as too old to use.
As for your mates gun... Yip it fitted you better. No big deal.bonus is you know you can shoot ok...just need to sort your shit. One smelly lump at a time.

I'm starting to think that the limbsaver might be causing half the problems now.
What i recently discovered is that the models with a factory recoil pad have a shorter stock to compensate for the thickness of the pad and my one doesn't fit on there properly.
If I can find a spare stock that I can swap over might sort it out.
further to mickey ducks suggestion you can find a bit of foam rubber ,yoga mat ,sleeping mat or similar cut a piece to size and fold in half then tape it to the butt.see what impact that has on your aim.

no you have misread what i meant .tape it to the top of the butt -in effect a temporary cheekpiece and see if it assists in you beiing able to see /use the rib correctly as was mentioned earlier.buggerising round with the recoil pad IMO does 6 7/8 of sfa at this point. however it does remind me -my shooting mate had problems with the stock on his baretta s/a and asked me about it .he source a piece of 3/8-1/2 "perspex block which we carefully cut and trimmed to fit the stock then added the original recoil pad .voila problem solved .

Too long = maybe makes you shoot low. Head down too low does same thing. Your looking to use shotgun,like a rifle to shoot stationary object ....so this length and fit thing doesn't matter a flying fook. I wasn't doing too well with clays when I first tried it out, i only had a cylinder choke barrel for it at the time and the clays were only breaking into 2 or 3 pieces at best.
I've got a contact who is in a clay target club but is out of town, will need to hit him up and see if I can pattern it at their club sometime.
The pads a couple of mm high but looks to fit the stock correctly, just put on slightly off. I doubt it's the problem though
