    Got an invite yesterday...

...to shooting clays on private land. Thank you sir (you know who you are).

Apart from the usual safety rules wherein all present were seriously invested - as we have indeed been for lo these many years - there were only 5 rules
    1. no (so-called) smartphones
    2. no talking about anything whatsoever to do with politics (including gun politics)
    3. pick up all shell-hulls
    4. no wheelies on exiting the venue (yeah, that one was quite funny at the time of announcement... but see Rule 5)
    5. no ethanol or derivatives to be consumed until after all clays fragmented: and then only if chauffeurs-home, arranged.

A shattering good time was had. And everybody got home safe and happy. Target shooting is a significant varietal of fun.

    That is all :-)

I must admit the above is way different from the bomb up at my place a couple of weeks ago, since no more SAUBG (semi auto ugly black guns) shoot ups the younger ones have switched to clay bird shooting, everyone has a phone, whether smart or not, talking is to a minimum due to muzzle blasts and all seemed to be recovering from hangovers...spinning the back wheels is normal to get in and out of the property...I don't think anyone was drinking alcohol until after the bomb up and then I think it was a bottle of good stuff passed around without mixers..as for the hulls, there are none left in visible sight but I imagine as the happening took place over a very steep face many went over the edge.

Target shooting, that means that the venue will be classified as a range under the new proposed rules and appropriately registered. Plod will be busy. I have the following "ranges" at home down the gully, up the gully, across the gully into the big face, on the river flat, off the cliff. Thankfully he dump isnt included because i hunt rats there.

Year it’s a pretty cool place. Used as a billet for American officers before the big D-day push.

@Gibo - thanks for your ?faux-concern. No problem. No-one there was a automated plod- or COL-worshipper so nothing more needed to be said.

Either I am very mistaken as your invite was for clay pigeon shooting, then the day's catch photo's clearly indicate that "pigs can fly"

did a clay shoot with mate recently -knowing theres a whinger in proximity and we were on public land he rang the local coppers bewforehand gave details -they logged it and when we were finished he rang again to tell em .they were appreciative of the actions!
Ive got my own trap he has one as has another mate so occasionally its all on.safety paramount ,any observers or newbies watched like hawks ,and always clean up afterwards.
