Has our ability to buy loose lead shot ceased?

Is it my imagination or is our ability to buy lead shot in bulk, as opposed to the 1 1/4 RTB's (Ready to bang) containers no longer a possibility?

I ask because having obtained the "bits 'n bobs" required for shotgun reloading, I find myself failing to locate a seller of lead shot, apart from Reloaders ..........with # 8's +9's.

Before anybody reminds me that it is cheaper to buy "ready made" I comment "yes at the moment", but for how long? Also I mutter that I have no intention of moulding my own.

So, are there retailers I am unaware of .............or need I stock up with RTB's pending our " winter of our discontent."

Mostly I wanted rabbit loads and they usually hung around 1¾ oz bb's or 2's, did a few 1½ , 1⅜ oz loads too. Never had a nasty moment........unless you count the odd primer falling out. Very unpopular at duckshooting as nothing I hit was worth , or even possible to pluck, apparently some birds even went backwards for a bit, fuck yeah (whoo) 1½oz bb's ,handfull of 571 and the're commin straight at me , ah yep I just loved blowing them to bits.
Make yourself a decent pattern testing frame right from the start , makes pattern testing a doddle if you dont have to arse about with sticky tape or staples . I got a feeling I may also have some mec charge bars and bushes, one was adjustable ,knobs on the ends. If your interested let me know and I will have a dig about when I get home tomorrow ,@ Wanaka with the P's , such fun ,watching Andre reau or whoever ,and its pissing down ....just wanna die ;-)

I did visit them but only found loaded hulls appearing when I searched for "Lead shot"

What words did you use for the search?

As you said, too easy. I have 4's and 8's. Plus a slab of 3's. I would like some BB's . However, your "head'sup" on the 4's is useful. I will telephone Brian once the silly season ends and get a bag of 4's and ask if anything heavier than 4 is available.

    Thank You.

    What Ho,

Nice to hear from you.......As I live in the past, ( It's a lot cheaper) my current "go to" for loads is the Hodgdon Powder Shotshell Data Manual by Don Zutz - 1st Edition - 1996"... It gives load information for 2 and 2 1/2 inch chambers as well as advice on my latest interest , brass 12 gauge hulls.
However, I have an eye on some MEC press's so if I get one your mention of charge bars could interest me. Thank You.

I will see how "things" progress.
Mean time.....try not to die :>) and enjoy life under our current regime.

    Be Seeing You.

A year or two ago, there was a bloke on Tardme from down South who sold homemade shot and slugs. It appears that he's stopped selling or advertising. Everywhere I try only has bird shot sizes. I fear we as shell loaders may be a dying breed.

Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out

Thank you. I have stocks at the moment and thankfully, I am not "stuck". I'm just wearing my "survivalist" hat and planning ahead for what i suspect will be problems.

However, with your approval, i may return to you if other supplies dribble off to nothing.

If you need Brian's number or email just PM me..I've found him very good to deal with especially if you want to know something about using a MEC press or getting parts for one.

I know a lot but it seems less every day...

Due to the exorbitant cost of reloading components, warning shots will not be given.
