well number one thing is that it is capable of firing steel shot !! otherwise the nazi green police will be on you like poo on purex!
then its a question of the choke so you can work out effective range, if its semi then will it work on light loads/heavy loads etc.

Dchild you best go and get it fitted. It's not like rifle shooting.
    Goggle it https://www.fieldsportsmagazine.com/...imon-ward.html
Our look at this link. If it dose not fit then you miss more wish someone had told me that when I'd started good luck

I would suggest going to a clay target club for some practice, but most will treat you like a leper with a pump, or semi, unless its a simulated field event. Shotgunning is not like rifle shooting and it may take some practice to sort it out. Certainly pattern your gun to see where it shoots compared with where you aim.

the best advice is go down to your local gun club, you will learn more about shooting there than you will in 3 or 4 seasons of shooting ducks.it is unfortunate that you have a pump as they are not enthused over at gunclubs because of the safety issue.however there are plenty of s/hand guns available for purchase, but make sure you take someone experienced advice.

Mate bought a pump shotty for shooting rabbits. Neither of us has/had much experience with shotguns
We got a tyre and put a piece of white cardboard in it and rolled it down a slope for getting the feel of it. Also good for shits and giggles. Then propped some smaller cardboards up in the grass.
Must have paid off as it gets a few rabbits

First, go with what the guys have has said above i.e. pattern the shotgun, fit the gun etc etc.

Second, get into skeet shooting at the local clay club and learn the basics of mounting the gun for the shot, foot positioning, keep both eyes open, giving enough lead, shoot, follow through etc etc and practice to build your instinctual shooting.
At the club they'll encourage you to shoot with the gun on your shoulder. I personally don't, my argument being that when I'm out hunting I won't have my gun mounted on my shoulder (upland hunting at least) so I might as replicate real life hunting scenario as much as I could.

Third, Once you get some experience and feel comfortable shooting at the club, then do some sporting clays at different locations as they have awesome target set ups, and its heck of a lot of fun.

Forth, have a spotter that will remind you the obvious mistakes you are not picking up that are habitual to you.

I'm great full of a fellow forum member that took the time to teach me the above, that reminds me its been long overdue and I need to drop him a message.

and finally, sell your pump action and get a double barreled gun. be classy and the upside being you won't be holding up anyone at the club when you gun jams.

    Happy shooting!

Before you rock up to the club. Buy a safty breach flag for your pump gun! Lets others around you know that the gun is safe as it obviously can't be broken like S/B/S U&O.
Also a magnetic cartage collector, saves you leaving a mess for the ground staff to clean up. Enjoy
