    Post pigger 410

hey just wondering what is a good gauge to get for a pigga 410. 410 or 20gauge? Also are they good for bailups with pigs.

.12ga is better by huge amount...... your best .410 loads is same as .243 at 300 yards...little room for error..... 5 ball 00 buck is better option if determined to go .410 route...but the .12ga is just better on all fronts other than recoil and noise...and when pig in sights you wont care about recoil....most loads arent that hot really...any steel bird shot is far more.
MAXIMUM range is 30 yards..3 yards much better.and at 3 yards you can use birdshot in .12ga and it will still kill well...Ive done it more than once.

A vote for 12 gauge here. A 410 solid weighs about 90 to 110 grains about the same as 3 .22 bullets and is owing the same speed. Fine for head shots at point blank, but not much else.
The pig hunters I know mostly use pistol cal lever guns, but two carry single shot baikals in 308x39 and one a 12 gauge.

3" .410 solids=87grns -/+ at 1500fps lots of folks TRIED them...I grew up in Tokoroa with members of pig hunting clubs, the pines are shotgun only......the .410 stayed home and .12ga went.

Used 20 gauge with slugs for years in blocks where rifles were banned. When suppressors became the norm used the 44 mag with subs and full loads. Very few of the bail ups I've attended over time have been ideal 22 or 22 mag territory, pig normally position in the crappiest place on the block.
