.12ga is better by huge amount...... your best .410 loads is same as .243 at 300 yards...little room for error..... 5 ball 00 buck is better option if determined to go .410 route...but the .12ga is just better on all fronts other than recoil and noise...and when pig in sights you wont care about recoil....most loads arent that hot really...any steel bird shot is far more.
MAXIMUM range is 30 yards..3 yards much better.and at 3 yards you can use birdshot in .12ga and it will still kill well...Ive done it more than once.
