Well I'll be buggered... you HAVE actually thought this through and ironed the small details out. I'd completely disregarded the fact that to shoot them head on...you'd need a remote trap or a lot of replacement friends.
I'll start really slowly and if I can't find a remote trap, I'll dig a fox hole for the wife to shelter in and to pull the string from.
This is going to be far more fun than I ever realised!

spud attacks got it.
I tried a version once with me little GCclaythrower (modded &reinfoced by yours trulyto a more sturdy std).
placed the bird arse upon the arm close to the spring end.
2 mates immediately to my left called "pull".
yup nailed one of em ON his right shin and broke the bird to bits! he hopped around ,A BIT BUT I CALLED IT FOUL!
mrs gave me some buggered saucers-interesting 1left trap clipped the back corner of the old truck and disintegrated.
a bit poor i thought given the softer clays hold together quite well.
mind you i once euthanised some coffee mugs she didnt like with 180gn.303slugs ,and they didnt offer much resistance either!:o
