Depending on the age of the 1100 you may be able to use a 11-87 model barrel on it. I believe some variants allow you to do this, but you may have to swap the forend to do this. The extractor is lighter on the 1100 as well, so it might take a beating with heavy game loads.

pretty sure 1100's are only 2&3/4" chambers to, so that limits you somewhat too.

Other option is depending on where/what you are shooting ... lead shot may still be an option...?

I have hunted / target shot with a 11-87 Premier (30" barrel) for 20 years. Absolutely love it. No problem with ducks/geese/etc. Looked at buying new replacement but doesn't feel right. (Note this is one of the older guns that were from the era when Remington made quality shotguns)
Hunting is not a hobby.....its an addiction
